I stood there for ten minutes, just watching.
Then I sat on the edge of the bed.
Her eyes opened slow. Confusion first. Fear second. Recognition never came.
In the glove compartment, the little black notebook waits. I've started writing in it differently now — not just facts and dates, but scenes. Descriptions. Sensory details. The weight of the head before the drop, the smell of the skin splitting. I'm starting to think of it less as a confession and more as choreography notes.
Tonight will be worse. It has to be.
